Largest ’Recycling Logo’ In UAE Created With Recyclables At EcoWASTE 2017

Dulsco, a regional pioneer in waste management services and human resource solutions has created one of the largest recycling logos with the help of recyclables at EcoWASTE 2017. Arab artists Maysoon and Bassam used 500kg of recovered wood, 20kg of old newspapers, 175kg of used cardboard and 200 recycled plastic bottles to create the Dulsco stand at the show. Dulsco won the first prize for the stand design and concept at EcoWASTE 2017.

Indranil Dutta, Director, Dulsco Abu Dhabi stated that, “At Dulsco, we believe that together we can create a sustainable future. Small actions and combined efforts lead to larger than life results. A testimony to the fact is the largest recycling logo created with recyclables, which is the highlight of Dulsco’s stand at EcoWASTE.  The smiling Emirati child in the center of the recycling logo is a collage created out of old newspapers and depicts that sustainability initiatives that we take today will ultimately result in the smile of the future generation.”

Dulsco created this unique stand to educate the youth about the various ways to recycle the products during the EcoWASTE event. Visitors at the stand got a chance to write down their sustainability message for the future and put it inside one of the bottles in the bottle wall. This being the year of giving, for every message put in to the bottle wall, Dulsco will plant a ghaff tree.

Organised as part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), EcoWASTE addresses critical topics on recycling and effective waste collection. The event will facilitate debate on sustainability challenges and offer potential solutions.

EcoWASTE is a significant platform for sustainable waste management and recycling. The show brings together leading local and international technology and service providers, local and regional buyers, and industry professionals from both the private and public sectors. Dulsco has participated in the EcoWASTE exhibition for the past 3 years and each year the company creates an interesting platform to strike a conversation with the audience.

“We regularly design programs and workshops to educate the youth population in UAE at various forums. The idea is to make them the champions of this change and support them in taking the responsibility of taking care of the planet and also educate their own parents and families. #MobileFirst: The Importance Of Mobile Optimization

In 2016, mobile overtook desktop as the primary device used to access websites.

Responsive website design is Google’s recommended way to tackle mobile friendly sites. Google has several tools for testing for mobile usability and the ‘Search Console’ has a mobile usability report that details problems on a page-by-page level.

Search Console looks at the following mobile usability issues:

Flash usage – Most mobile browsers do not render Flash and you will want to use more modern technologies.
Viewport not configured – The viewport metatag aids browsers in scaling a page to suit a specific device.
Fixed width viewport – This problem attempts to circumvent mobile design with fixed width pages and is best shelved when a responsive design is adopted.
Content not sized to viewport – Here the page content does not fit the window, and a user has to scroll.
Small font size – This is a scaling issue and requires users to pinch the screen to zoom in.
Touch elements too close – This is a common usability issue where it is too hard to tap a given element without also hitting the neighboring element.
Interstitial usage – A full-screen pop-up often represents poor user experience on a mobile device and is a big no no.

Keyword placement plays a part in how Google finds sites. Google looks for keywords throughout each Web page, but some sections are more important than others. Including the keyword in the Web page’s title is a good idea. Google also searches for keywords in headings. Headings come in a range of sizes, and keywords in larger headings are more valuable than if they are in smaller headings. Keyword dispersal is also important. Webmasters though should avoid overusing keywords.

NSO Opera To Present Spooky Fairytale Opera Hansel & Gretel!

NSO Opera, under the umbrella of the NSO Symphony Orchestra (UAE) will present Humperdinck’s fully staged opera ‘Hansel & Gretel’ on 10 and 11 March at The National Theatre, Abu Dhabi, a deliciously spine-tingling, musical fairytale that’s sure to thrill!

The 45-piece NSO Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Music Director Andrew Berryman, will enthral all the family with Humperdinck’s sweeping arrangement, in the musical style of Wagner.

Under the stage direction of dynamic Spanish­-Jordanian Haya Nasser,

Mezzo-soprano Louise Merrifield will take the principal role of Hansel, while Soprano Julia Teal Kermott is flying in from the US to take the principal role of Gretel. Both have performed previously with NSO in the UAE.

Dramatic Soprano Susanna Lauer will be the children’s Mother whilst Tom Isherwood is flying in from the UK to perform the role of Father.  Dramatic Soprano Helen Kerr will be the wacky but scary Witch. Tenor Robert Millner as the Sandman and Coloratura Soprano Lauren Nieuwland as the Dewfairy, complete the professional principal role line-up.

A full cast of 80 Abu Dhabi resident children in the joyful Gingerbread chorus, whacky Witch’s Dance and stunning Angel ballet, will support them, bringing colour and excitement to the National Theatre’s stage – not to mention the Witch!

Some 10,000 people loved the orchestra’s spectacular accompaniment of Andrea Bocelli’s concert at the du Arena last April, and younger audiences were enthralled earlier by the orchestra, with Elsa and friends, as they performed live at the screening of Disney’s animated film, Frozen.

The Abu Dhabi premiere is under NSO’s  ‘Working with Children for Children’ community initiative in support of a worldwide children’s charity.

Etihad Airways Presents An Afternoon With Indian Fashion Couturier Manish Malhotra In Abu Dhabi

Etihad Airways, in association with Lakmé Fashion Week, today hosted master couturier Manish Malhotra in Abu Dhabi as part of the airline’s latest initiative as the preferred carrier of the global fashion industry.

Renowned for modernising costumes in Bollywood, India’s vibrant film industry, the celebrity designer has redefined the fashion industry with his eponymous label taking Indian couture to the global stage. He visited the airline’s state-of-the-art Innovation Centre and Training Academy and officially launched his Etihad Airways-sponsored virtual reality fashion show, which was filmed using the pioneering technology at Lakmé Fashion Week in Mumbai last August.

With over 75 models on the catwalk, viewers are able to immerse themselves in the show and feel part of the extravagant event, with Manish Malhotra becoming the first Indian fashion designer to present a virtual reality experience. Etihad Airways used the same VR technology to give viewers unprecedented access to the airline’s award-winning Airbus A380 by immersing them in the aircraft cabins in a virtual reality film ‘Reimagine’ featuring Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman.

Lakmé Fashion Week was one of a series of fashion events around the world sponsored by Etihad Airways as part of its three-year agreement with WME | IMG to be the industry’s preferred airline. The next edition of Lakmé Fashion Week takes place in Mumbai from February 1.

During his visit, the acclaimed designer was given a tour of the Innovation Centre that houses mock-ups of Etihad Airways’ A380 and Boeing 787 premium cabins, including its award-winning three-room suite – The Residence.

The visit also covered a tour of the cabin crew training facilities and a Q&A session about the fashion industry, and his lifestyle and travel experiences that was streamed live on social media.

High-Flying European Quartet Join Stellar Field At Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

A top European quartet of Matthew Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton, Rafa Cabrera Bello and Chris Wood is the latest addition to the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship line up, staging its 12th edition, January 19-22 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

The group will provide more superb pedigree to the world-class field, with Fitzpatrick, Hatton and Cabrera Bello all securing top ten finishes in last season’s European Tour money list. Wood followed in 11th place, aided by the biggest win of his career at the BMW PGA Championship in May. They will tee it up in the Capital alongside the blockbuster group of Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Danny Willett and defending champion Rickie Fowler, as well as the likes of Ryder Cup prodigy Thomas Pieters and three-time Abu Dhabi winner Martin Kaymer.

Englishmen Fitzpatrick and Hatton both enjoyed a ‘coming of age’ during the 2016 season, clinching three titles between them and finishing 6th and 4th respectively in the Race to Dubai, while Fitzpatrick also made his Ryder Cup debut at Hazeltine in September.

Currently sitting at Number 30 in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), the 22-year-old certainly won’t be going into the new season under the radar, and the Brit is looking forward to returning to the region on the hunt for more glory.

Fitzpatrick said: “I am really looking forward to competing in Abu Dhabi again. Winning the end of season European Tour event in the UAE in November was the best moment of my career so far and I hope I can build on that in 2017. The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship has a great reputation amongst the players and it is great to have Dustin and Rickie at a European Tour event.”

Hatton, 25, finished his 2016 season strongly with four top-ten finishes, including his maiden professional win, in his last six European Tour starts.

“I just want to continue where I left off,” he said. “It is going to be a massive test to compete in such a strong field but I want to add more titles this season. I love playing in the Middle East and really enjoy the set up at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, so hopefully I’ll be contending on that final day.”

The four Europeans will join the 126-strong field in competing for a wealth of Official World Golf Ranking points – the 2016 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship claimed top spot as the highest ranked tournament on the European Tour calendar with 375 points on offer for the world’s elite golfers. The figure made the Abu Dhabi event the most outstanding on the European Tour outside of the BMW PGA Championship, the four Majors and the World Golf Championships.

Peter German, Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship Tournament Director, said: “The Official World Golf Ranking points are being used as a measure not only of an individual player’s standing in the game, but increasingly to measure the quality of the overall field of a particular tournament. We are extremely proud the quality of the pros electing to play in Abu Dhabi has meant we have always scored extremely highly. In 2016 no other European Tour event registered higher in terms of World Values – we are confident this will be repeated in 2017.’’

Fowler notched up 52 OWGR points after his dominating victory in last year’s tournament, which helped propel the American up to fourth in the world. The first place points value for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship was only bettered by one tournament on the European Tour, The BMW PGA Championship held at Wentworth – which enjoys a pre-determined total as a flagship event on the Tour.

Held in the season’s opening months and heading the European Tour’s ‘desert swing’, the tournament is now regarded as one of the must-see events on the world golfing calendar.

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is owned by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and will take place from 19 – 22 January 2017 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
