Careem, the Dubai headquartered, ride-hailing app, has today announced that Abu Dhabi customers can now pay for their trips using cash. This follows on from an announcement back in February that Careem was resuming full service in the capital with both instant and scheduled rides. Car types in Abu Dhabi are Limo (Lexus cars) and MiniVan (Toyota Previas) and the minimum fare is AED 40. Back in 2013 Saudi Arabia was the first market Careem introduced cash payment into due to the heavy cash-based economy.
As the only ride-hailing app operating in Abu Dhabi, Careem will continue to introduce new components to the service to help improve customer experience and to make Careem an affordable and reliable way to get around the city.

Coffee lovers in the UAE’s capital city now have the perfect breakfast destination within their reach. The Coffee Club (TCC), an Australian coffee house-style café chain operating internationally, has opened its latest outlet in Al Forsan Village – Town Square.
Renowned for its extensive breakfast menu and relaxed ambience, The Coffee Club is an excellent addition to the retail and hospitality offerings of Al Forsan Village, an exclusive suburban enclave poised to become one of Abu Dhabi’s premier residential addresses. The addition of the Town Square outlet will take the total number of TCC outlets in the UAE to 12.
Town Square hosts a range of upscale retail outlets as well as an exquisite collection of dining venues and pavement cafés. With its atmosphere reminiscent of a bustling Mediterranean town, it is designed to be the focal point of the Al Forsan Village, a place for people to meet and exchange news and views with family and friends.
New figures from the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, show that emirate welcomed 1.6 million guests in the first quarter of 2017, recording a 7 percent growth compared to the same period last year.
The month of April has continued to build on the strong performance of the opening quarter of the year, posting a year-on-year increase of 15 percent in hotel guest arrivals. Each of the six international tier-one markets of China, India, the United Kingdom, UK, the United States, US, Germany and Saudi Arabia have shown growth. Domestic numbers also grew impressively in April to reach 130,000. Each of the emirate’s three districts – Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra regions – have experienced an upturn in arrivals.
Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director-General of TCA Abu Dhabi, said, “Efforts to stimulate interest in our destinations continue unabated and we are encouraged by our latest hotel guest arrival results, which show strong progress. As we expand our year-round programme of events and develop new cultural and family attractions, we expect even greater traction in enticing people to explore the emirate.
“Our inaugural Culture Summit in April brought together leaders of the world’s art, media and cultural policy communities from 80 countries, while the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair attracted more than 300,000 visitors. Both these events contributed to highlighting our vision of developing the emirate into a thriving cultural hub and a global cultural destination,” he added.
