The Formula 1® Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is officially underway, and there’s never been a first day like it. With increased access, driver arrivals, and more entertainment across Yas island, yesterday set a new benchmark for fan experience.
It’s the one day when the Yas Marina Circuit was handed over to fans for an opportunity to explore, take in the intensifying atmosphere, and enjoy spaces that become harder to access once on-track action, qualifying and race day begin.
Here are five standout moments that capture the day at its best:
- Two F1® Pit Lane Walks
Two F1 Pit Lane walks gave fans a rare behind-the-scenes moment: standing where the drivers stand, seeing the circuit through their eyes, and watching teams working on the cars in their garages.
2. Benson Boone took a lap with Max Verstappen
When a soundcheck can wait. Benson Boone warmed up for his UAE debut on the track with a spin around the circuit courtesy of Max Verstappen, after spending the afternoon in the paddock mingling with fans and drivers. Watch the full video here.
3. From asphalt to Benson Boone
Fans celebrated a new race week tradition last night, stepping onto the iconic F1® Pit Lane Walk for the first time ever in the evening at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, before continuing into an illuminated FAB Track Walk across Yas Marina Circuit. And, for the first time, walking all the way to Etihad Park for Benson Boone’s opening race weekend concert.

- Yas Heat take to the track
Before the F4 Trophy action begins, Yas Heat’s drivers walked the circuit corner by corner, analysing lines, grip and racecraft. It’s a ritual of the Yas Marina Circuit talent programme, and insight into how future champions are built.
