After four days of non-stop events, activities and promotions across the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi Showdown Week moved into fifth gear for its final stretch – and just in time for the weekend!
British soul singer Jess Glynne started proceedings with her performance at the official Red Hot Chili Peppers After Party, Bizaar, at MAD Yas Island, before Fairmont Bab Al Bahr re-energised party-goers with Drai’s Beach Club throwing an epic pool party featuring British drum ‘n’ bass act Rudimental and DJ Sigala.
Just after lunchtime, the three-day Abu Dhabi Sports & Fitness Expo bulked up at du Forum on Yas Island, where a host of fitness and mixed martial arts brands are collaborating at the specialist B2B industry event. The platform goes into ‘Hulk mode’ on Friday when multiple Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler, will make a celebrity appearance.
On the UFC front, a host of the organisation’s biggest names returned to final preparations for UFC 242®: Khabib vs. Poirier following the official Open Workouts at Yas Mall on Wednesday evening, although UFC welterweight Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson kept the momentum going with a guest athlete appearance at WTC – Abu Dhabi, before travelling with other UFC athletes to Telal Resort in Al Ain.
Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), Abu Dhabi Showdown Week is a seven-day entertainment festival featuring a host of superstar concerts and mixed martial arts events, activities and promotions building up to the mega UFCâ 242: Khabib vs. Poirier event on September 7.
