Al Maryah Island and The Galleria will once again host renowned Chinese New Year celebrations, welcoming the Abu Dhabi community for the fifth consecutive year. Visitors of all ages will enjoy an array of events on Al Maryah Island’s Waterfront Promenade from January 31stuntil February 1st, culminating in an astounding fireworks display. Complementing the waterfront celebrations, The Galleria on Al Maryah Island will host a wide range of activities from January 31stuntil February 2nd.

Known for hosting one of the most spectacular Chinese New Year celebrations in the UAE, The Galleria and Waterfront Promenade will be transformed into an illuminating exhibition of Chinese lanterns and decorations. Visitors will be able to make a Chinese New Year wish at the traditional Tree of Fortune (Ang Pao) located in The Galleria’s ‘Great Room’, along with the chance to receive special offers and promotions from The Galleria’s distinguished luxury brands and exceptional Dining Collection venues.
Little ones will adore hands-on activities such as designing their very own Chinese paper lanterns and traditional “good luck” ornaments, as well as Chinese drum making, ‘dragon art’ and face painting. Guests will also be enchanted byChinese calligraphy showcases, sugar painting displays, and tea-making ceremonies, and can participate in the customary Chinese New Year Red Packet, a gift symbolizing good fortune.
The Galleria will also welcome acclaimed Shanghai-based artist Mrs. Hou Ling Ling, a skilled master in the ancient art of Chinese Bian Embroidery. Her works will be on display in The Galleria throughout the event, showcasing the800-year-old tradition which is considered to be a national treasure and famed for its precise patterns, elegant styles and bright colours.
Al Maryah Island’s Waterfront Promenade will become an exciting celebration of the Orient. An array of unique activities for visitors such as, Ming vase art design will be on offer, along with a full schedule of exhilarating performances throughout the weekend including, ‘Golden Kung Fu’, stunt lion dancing, acrobatic dances, mask changing routines, Chinese drum shows, artistic ink sleeve displays and more.
Al Maryah Island’s stand-out Chinese New Year celebrations will also feature a spectacular choreographed fireworks display on February 1st.
