Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE, the ninth season of Abu Dhabi Classics is now underway, presented by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and brought to you by du Live. The new season of the most influential and prestigious classical music programme in the Middle East kicked off at the Cultural Foundation on Tuesday 28 January, with a mesmerising performance of Bach’s concertos for 2, 3 and 4 pianos by David Fray and Friends.
Decorated French musician Fray was joined by fellow acclaimed pianists Emanuel Christien, Audrey Vigoureux, and Jacques Rouvier and the prestigious Geneva Chamber Orchestra for an inspirational performance of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach’s historic work.
Widely renowned as the most inspired Bach player of his generation, Fray led the esteemed line-up in his trademark style, sat hunched over his piano on a chair as opposed to a piano stool, and had the audience captivated throughout the evening during an enthralling journey through some of the most abiding western classical music experiences.
Abu Dhabi Classics, presented by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, brought to you by du Live and produced by Flash Entertainment, continues this weekend with a performance by one of the world’s leading prima ballerinas, Svetlana Zakharova, on Friday 31 January at the Cultural Foundation. Following this is by a concert by French solo pianist Lise de La Salle on Saturday 1 February at the same location.
Limited tickets for the unique and immersive week-long experience are still available. Celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday 5 February at Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi and enjoy the season finale with famed Arab singer Magida El Roumi at du Arena, Yas Island on Friday 7 February, among six stunning shows to come.
