The Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi announced the launch of the first edition of Abu Dhabi Transport Week, which includes a group of events aimed at redefining the concept of the future of transportation in the emirate, from April 24 to May 1, 2024. The event will witness a number of announcements, in addition to a number of interactive intellectual activities, which aim to enhance Abu Dhabi’s leadership and global position in the field of smart and autonomous transportation.
The department explained that it opened the week’s activities by revealing the Abu Dhabi Mobility Strategy, which includes an integrated system for land, air and sea transport activities, in addition to vehicle and driver licensing services, as part of the department’s commitment to shaping a smart and sustainable mobility future that will be a model to be emulated at the regional level.
His Excellency Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, said: “Abu Dhabi Transport Week reflects a picture of reality that bears witness to our unwavering commitment to advancing the transformational path of the transport sector in our emirate. We look forward to presenting our integrated mobility strategy during this week, to highlight our ongoing efforts to support various aspects of innovation, and our relentless pursuit to achieve our vision of creating a more advanced and sustainable transport sector that is compatible with the requirements of the modern era.”
The Department of Municipalities and Transport has also announced that it is the official host of the first edition of the DriftX event for smart and autonomous vehicles, which will be held from April 24 to 26, 2024. The event is supervised by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office in cooperation with the Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry Cluster (SAVI), to form a leading platform that brings together a group of global leaders and innovators, including organizations, regulatory bodies and major companies operating in the field of autonomous, smart and sustainable transportation to discuss and explore various land, air and sea mobility solutions.

The Department revealed the launch of the “Abu Dhabi Independent and Rally Racing League” as part of the Abu Dhabi Mobility Week activities, on April 27, 2024, at the Yas Marina Circuit, with the participation of teams from the UAE, America, Europe, China, and Singapore, competing in the Dallara Super Formula car race, for prizes worth $2.25 million, or approximately 8 million Emirati dirhams, in an exciting event for followers and fans of the world of car racing.
The Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi also announced its strategic partnership at the conclusion of Abu Dhabi Transport Week, represented by the “Mobility Live” conference from April 30 to May 1, 2023 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The conference is scheduled to bring together the most prominent specialists in the transportation and technology sectors to enhance cooperation between them and open future horizons in the field of sustainable mobility.
Commenting on the participation in the week’s events, His Excellency Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, said: “The Abu Dhabi Transport Week events, including Drift X and Mobility Live, reflect our commitment to creating a sustainable future in the transportation sector, through the combined efforts of dedicated collective efforts that confirm our support for innovation and our absolute belief in the importance of creating more opportunities and providing platforms that bring together the most important experts from various sectors to build a solid foundation from which we can launch towards a future of qualitative transformation in the field of sustainable transportation.”
Abu Dhabi Mobility Week offers a variety of initiatives and events for the public, including various health and sports events, scientific research events with universities, and a range of cultural activities in various schools in the emirate. These diverse activities and events aim to engage different segments of society and inspire the new generation of innovators in the field of mobility.
