Department Of Municipalities And Transport Organizes Occupational Safety And Health Forum 2024 In Abu Dhabi

The Department of Municipalities and Transport successfully organized the two-day Occupational Safety and Health Forum 2024, with the aim of raising awareness and exchanging dialogue on best practices in this field across various sectors within the emirate, in addition to emphasizing the role and commitment of the department in maintaining the safety of community members through monitoring the projects it supervises.

The forum was attended by His Excellency Dr. Salem Al Kaabi, Director General of Operations Affairs at the Department of Municipalities and Transport, along with senior representatives of government agencies, officials, employees, contractors and service providers in the relevant sectors. It brought together a number of experts at the local and international levels to discuss and address issues related to occupational safety and health, through valuable discussions and distinguished presentations that formed a platform for exchanging experiences and joint work opportunities. It also enabled attendees to learn about important strategies and best practices that aim to overcome challenges in this vital field, and contributed to deepening participants’ understanding of current trends and innovations in the field of occupational safety and health management.

On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Salem Al Kaabi said : “ The success of the forum confirms our firm commitment to providing an ideal and safe working environment for everyone in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The Department and its affiliated entities include more than 16,000 employees, in addition to being the regulatory body for the construction and transportation sectors, which are among the most vital sectors in the emirate. Our mission to maintain their occupational safety is a top priority, which prompts us to be very keen to establish a culture of occupational safety and health that will contribute to enhancing their productive capabilities and enable them to be creative and innovative.”

This forum is part of the activities of the Occupational Safety and Health Week organized by the Department under the slogan “Ensuring Occupational Safety and Health in Unstable Conditions” in conjunction with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work of the International Labour Conference, which continued from May 6 to 10.
