Global reggaeton superstar J Balvin has set his sights on exploring Abu Dhabi’s cultural diversity and taking his love of Latin music to the country’s masses when he lands in the UAE capital.
J Balvin, who is performing at The Arena, Yas Island, on September 5 as part of Abu Dhabi Showdown Week, a seven-day entertainment festival organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) to complement the UAE capital’s mega UFCâ 242 event, is keen to glimpse ancient South American artefacts on his debut visit to the emirate.
“I want to go see the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque because I hear it’s an amazing place and something you have to see when you are in the UAE,” said the Colombian, who is now one of the top streaming artists in the world.
“I’ve also been told there’s an amazing display of works at the Louvre Abu Dhabi. There’s apparently a collection of gold funeral masks from various countries around the world, including some from Peru and other South American countries – they would be really cool to check out.”
As an active advocate of tolerance, diversity and unity, Balvin is on a mission to propel Latin music to unprecedented worldwide prominence.
