Key highlights from the interview include:
- The Middle East is transforming like it has never done before, and that comes with a lot of opportunities for banks to help companies grow and optimise their set up through fundraising on equity or debt markets or through M&A and changing the format of their business.
- The shift from syndicated loans to the bond market is a great way to attract FDI into the region. The Middle East’s strong credit rating, zero rate bonds offered to investors is an attractive proposition.
- This year has seen $80 billion of regional inflows from the bond market and $25 billion in public equity market inflows; a large part of that being passive flows into Saudi Arabia following the MSCI & FTSE inclusion.
Speakers at the invitation-only event included:
- Michael R. Bloomberg, Founder of Bloomberg L.P. & Bloomberg Philanthropies
- His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of State and Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company Group
