Aspiring footballers within the UAE now have the opportunity to develop their skills at a brand-new venue, with Abu Dhabi-based Maestros Football Academy opening its second location at 321 Sports Hudayriyat Island.
The venue, which boasts a sports field with both natural and artificial grass, ensures attendees will receive high quality coaching at a world class facility in the heart of the capital, while its indoor sports dome – the largest of its kind in the MENA region – is where sessions will be delivered during the warmer months of the season.
Since being founded in 2022 by Luke Appleton and Josh Stanford, homegrown Maestros Football Academy has enjoyed rapid growth following its commitment to serving the local Abu Dhabi community, with coaching sessions currently taking place at Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub where specific Recreational, Development and CompetitivePrograms ensure players of all abilities have the opportunity to take part.
By promoting key values such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, Maestros produces well-rounded individuals who contribute positively both on and off the pitch, while the Academy also engages in local outreach programs, offering workshops and activities to promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among youngsters.
Appleton, a former semi-professional footballer who also works as a PE (Physical Education) teacher, said: “The opening of a second Maestros Football Academy venue is fantastic news for the continued development of sport at grass roots level within Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE.
“Venues such as 321 Sports Hudayriyat Island ensure youngsters in Abu Dhabi have the opportunity to hone their abilities at a world class facility, not only developing their football talent but also learning key life skills such as being part of a team, carrying out instructions and never giving up.
“In addition to football coaching, many of our players have completed Leadership in Sport qualifications, in partnership with the Leadership Skills Foundation, to develop individual skillsets and enhance their relationship with sport.”
Stanford, a former semi-professional footballer who scored at Wembley in the 2013 FA Vase final, added: “The launch of this new venue is hugely exciting for both Maestros and the local community.
“We are extremely passionate about promoting the importance of sport and physical exercise, particularly for the younger generation, and by opening a new venue it enables us to provide football coaching sessions for a wider audience within Abu Dhabi.
“From the outset, our ambition was to create a positive learning environment in which young players can thrive, and we are delighted to now host sessions at two separate venues across Abu Dhabi.”
