Honoring The Pillars Of The Nation: Umm Al Emarat Park Celebrates Emirati Women’s Day

In celebration of Emirati Women’s Day, Umm Al Emarat Park proudly honors the extraordinary contributions of Emirati women, reflecting the Park’s deep-rooted commitment to supporting and empowering them, their families and the wider community. This significant day, observed annually on August 28th, is dedicated to recognizing the pivotal role Emirati women play in shaping the nation’s future, reflecting the enduring legacy of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, affectionately known as the Mother of the Nation.

Named in her honor, Umm Al Emarat Park embodies Sheikha Fatima’s tireless dedication to the empowerment and advancement of women. As Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, her visionary leadership continues to inspire generations of Emirati women to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to their communities. The Park’s design and mission pay tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s vision of preserving the UAE’s cultural and natural heritage.

In line with its commitment to empower women, Umm Al Emarat Park has consistently championed women-led initiatives, including the notable collaboration with Vine Communities and Planthead UAE. These Emirati-owned sustainable brands were given a platform to thrive during the Park Market’s 2023/2024 season, where 61 women-owned brands were supported by the Park.

Mariam Abdullah Muftah, owner of The Lotus Kawaii and a participant in the previous Park Market season, shared her thoughts: “Emirati women are a beacon of strength and ambition, breaking barriers in every field. I salute these extraordinary women and urge them to persevere, drawing inspiration from our nation’s visionary leaders. In our beloved homeland, the word ‘impossible’ does not exist.”

The Park Market not only provided a venue for these businesses but also actively engaged with women and their families through a series of tailored activities. Over 7,000 free giveaways were distributed, mainly to women and their families, while more than 300 free activities catered specifically to women and children. The Park also held two walkathons in October to support breast cancer awareness, during which over 300 free mammograms were conducted, and 450 free mammogram vouchers were distributed, underscoring the Park’s commitment to women’s health.

Yamna Obaid, owner of Leliaz Perfume, highlighted the balance Emirati women achieve: “Emirati women seamlessly blend authenticity, rich traditions and ambition. We are leaders at home and in our communities, making meaningful contributions to society. My message to Emirati women including myself is to continue to aspire and strive for our goals. The world needs our energy and creativity, and there is no limit to what we can achieve.”

Notably, Umm Al Emarat Park’s commitment to gender equality is reflected in its workforce, where women comprise 54% of the staff, holding various roles from office positions to ticketing and duty management. Among them is Rasha Kablawi, Director of Corporate Communication for Sinyar Holding and spokesperson for Umm Al Emarat Park, who remarked, “Emirati Women’s Day is a momentous occasion for us to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in our nation. At Umm Al Emarat Park, we are dedicated to continuing Sheikha Fatima’s legacy by empowering women through our initiatives and providing a space where their contributions are recognized and cherished. We believe in the strength, resilience, and determination of the Emirati women.Umm Al Emart Park is committed to support their aspirations and dreams.”

Furthermore, the park’s efforts extend beyond commercial support, creating inclusive activities and specially tailored activations. The successful Jujitsu female tournament and the free female martial arts workshop held during Pink October empowered over 60 young Emirati girls, reinforcing the park’s role in fostering female leadership and resilience.

As the UAE continues its journey towards progress and innovation, the contributions of Emirati women remain integral to the nation’s success. Umm Al Emarat Park is honored to celebrate these achievements and remains committed to providing a nurturing environment where women can flourish and lead.
