Lebanese Singing Superstar Magida El Roumi Primed For Glittering Finale To Ninth Abu Dhabi Classics

Magida El Roumi, one of the Arab world’s most acclaimed singers, will take to the stage at Abu Dhabi’s du Arena on Friday February 7 in a stirring conclusion to the ninth season Abu Dhabi Classics, which is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE, presented by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and brought to you by du Live.

The Lebanese vocalist is renowned for live shows that take the audience on enchanting musical journeys, and the du Arena audience is set to witness a performer who has struck a deep chord with audiences of all ages worldwide. Magida has carved a special place in the hearts of millions in the Arab world through her music and much-loved songs that radiate the universal language of love and peace.

Magida was born into a rich musical heritage as the daughter of accomplished musician Halim El Roumi, and she gave an indication of her talent at an early age, winning the popular Studio El Fan talent show with stirring renditions of songs by famous Arabic singers Layla Murad and Asmahan, aged just 17.

Since then, Magida went on to grace some of the biggest stages in the world, having performed at New York’s Carnegie Hall in 1990, Paris Olympia in 1993 and 1998, London’s Royal Albert Hall in 1995, the Place des Arts in Montreal, Canada in 2003, the Athens Concert Hall in Greece in 2009, Muscat’s Royal Opera House in 2013, and Cairo’s Opera House in 2018.

El Roumi’s stature and her popularity has seen her enthrall fans of all ages with memorable performances at Beiteddine, Jerash, Bosra and Carthage, the renowned Mawazine Festival, and the Bahrain Summer Festival.

Holding a Bachelors degree in Arabic Literature, Magida is deeply proud of her heritage and her country. She has a huge following in the Middle East, but her works have also earned recognition worldwide for constant messages of peace, harmony, and co-existence. Throughout her successful career, Magida has performed in front of monarchs, presidents, heads of state and a sea of adoring fans to bring to life words from some of the most distinguished Arab poets and composers.

The recipient of a host of prestigious honours in multiple countries, including Lebanon’s National Shield of Honor of the Cedars, France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Morocco’s National Shield of Honour, and Tunisia’s National Order of Cultural Merit, Magida is a true icon of Arabic classical music.
