Wizz Air, Europe’s fastest growing airline, today announces that its Chief Executive, József Váradi, was awarded the Low-Cost Leadership Award at FlightGlobal’sannual Airline Strategy Awards held on 27 September 2021. The award recognises the dynamic leadership and clear vision of Váradi during the pandemic.
This year, the awards served as recognition for high-quality leadership, with a particular focus on outstanding performance during the Covid-19 pandemic.FlightGlobal praised winners for their demonstration of agility and flexibility through what has been the most sustained and deep crisis the industry has faced.
Wizz Air’s investment grade balance sheet, agile operating model and continued focus on diversification has allowed it to emerge from the pandemic as a structural winner, having launched over 300new routes, opened 17 bases, and received33 new aircraft across its network since March 2020. To support the airline’s swift recovery and ambitious growth plans, Wizz Air is embarking on a recruitment drive, with plans to hire 800 new cabin crew and 300 new pilots across its network by December 2021.
