Under the patronage of H.E. Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance, and ahead of the official launch of the Abu Dhabi Festival 2018 headline programme, Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) presents The Centenary of ‘La Cumparsita,’ a celebratory concert marking 100 years of the anthem of the tangos. Taking place on 23 November 2017, the Arab World Premiere performance is presented in partnership with the Embassy of Uruguay and in association with The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi.
Performed by the iconic Uruguayan bandoneònist Hector Ulises Passarella and his band, the evening will celebrate the definitive anthem of the tangos reaching its 100th anniversary and the instrument’s expressive and powerful sound – demonstrating why it is synonymous with the passionate tango. A programme of iconic works including contemporary and traditional tangos, as well as innovative arrangements of pieces by Chopin and Bach, will showcase the diversity of the artform and the instrument.
WWE’s family-friendly action will continue for a second consecutive night in Abu Dhabi with a newly-added event on Friday, December 8 at Zayed Sports City Tennis Stadium featuring Triple H vs. Roman Reigns in the main event. Yas Marina Circuit and FLASH Entertainment today revealed that hip-hop star J. Cole will replace Kendrick Lamar for the Yasalam After-Race Concert on Friday 24th November.
Due to circumstances beyond the promoters’ control, Lamar won’t be performing due to personal reasons and J. Cole has been lined up to join the internationally-renowned DJ Calvin Harris playing Thursday 23rd November, UK-based rockers Mumford & Sons playing Saturday 25th November, with global icon P!NK closing out the weekend on Sunday 26th November.
