The Galleria on Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi has officially opened its exclusive photographic exhibition. Courtesy of the National Archive, the artistic display is in celebration of the late founding father of the UAE.
In honour of his highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the 40 images showcase the historical significance of his rule and the impact of his legacy. In the 100th year of his birth, the exhibition will take guests on a journey through the leader’s great achievements.
Photographs displayed include Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, during the opening of the first national university in the United Arab Emirates in 1977. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is also pictured along with Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Qassimi and Sir Geoffrey Arthur, who was a British resident in the Gulf. The image captures the four men seated prior to the signing of the ‘Treaty of Friendship’, between the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, at the Jumeirah Palace in Dubai in 1971.
The luxury shopping and dining destination is devoting the Holy Month of Ramadan to the Year of Zayed. Residents and visitors are invited to the exhibition which is open until 17th June and can be found on Level 1 of The Galleria on Al Maryah Island.
