Abu Dhabi Festival 2022 Launched The 2nd Tour Of The Filasteen Young Musicians Orchestra Throughout Palestine

Abu Dhabi Festival, as part of its mission to invest in the youth and creativity both in the UAE and abroad, and in partnership with strategic partner the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Ramallah, Palestine, announced the launch of the second tour of the Filasteen Young Musicians Orchestra in Palestine, November 24-26. The event takes place as part of the 18th Abu Dhabi Festival, held under the theme The Future Starts Now.

H.E. Huda Ibrahim Alkhamis, Founder of ADMAF and Founder and Artistic Director of Abu Dhabi Festival, said “Our proud partnership with the Barenboim-Said Akademie is born out of a shared goal to unite people across political and spiritual boundaries through the power of music. We support young musicians in the spirit of that valiant mission by providing opportunities for talented youth around the world to access music education regardless of their social or economic background”.

Led by conductor Rémy Ballot, the Barenboim-Said Center For Music’s Filasteen Young Musicians Orchestra toured Palestinian cities and refugee camps, entertaining Palestinian audiences with remarkable performances and a series of workshops to educate children in these camps.

The Ramallah-based orchestra consists of talented young Palestinian musicians looking to advance their musical education. The Orchestra is a project of the Barenboim-Said Foundation, Abu Dhabi Festival’s Strategic Partner, which was established by late Palestinian intellectual and scholar, Edward Said, and the renowned pianist and conductor, Daniel Barenboim. It focuses on nurturing musical talents of Palestinian children and young people, providing them with learning and guidance by professional, influencing conductors and seeks to further enhance the classical music scene in Palestine and make Palestinian classical musicians visible internationally.

The 19th edition of Abu Dhabi Festival 2022 is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha ShamsaBint Hamdan Al Nahyan and supported by lead partner Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala) and energy partner GS Energy. Abu Dhabi Festival 2022 encompasses over 1,000 participating artists from around the world to present more than 300 performances and events. The 19th edition will also include two world tours and 17world premieres.

The 2022 Abu Dhabi Festival programme is part of the contribution that the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation makes to the UAE capital’s designation as a UNESCO City of Music.
