Yas Island Reveals Biggest Events Calendar Yet

Yas Island, the UAE’s premier entertainment destination, revealed a spectacular calendar of events for the remainder of 2018. Featuring over 40 new and returning events – Yas Island’s biggest line-up to date boasts an exciting selection of international shows, cultural festivities and entertainment for the entire family.

The impressive line-up will see the return of guest favourites including Eid and National Day festivities, glow-in-the-dark ‘Neon Nights’, music-filled ‘Caribbean Beach Festival’, ‘Yas Movies in the Park’, foodie-favourite ‘Taste of Abu Dhabi’, upbeat ‘Festival of Lights’, ‘Winter Carnival’ as well as the debut of new events including ‘Sparkles of India’, the ‘Yas Gaming Festival’, ‘Neorun’ and ‘The Big Grill Festival’, making it Yas Island’s biggest and most diverse event season to date.

Commenting on the line-up, Gerardo Llanes, Executive Director – Destination Management at Yas Island said: “We are very excited to announce our calendar of events and to bring ten new sensational events to Yas Island for the very first time, alongside old favourites that our visitors have come to know and love. As always, we have made sure to include an abundance of family festivals and events that visitors of all ages can enjoy.”

With our varied line-up of international shows, events and activities, we have no doubt that our visitors from far and wide will enjoy unforgettable experiences this events season on Yas Island.” Llanes added.

Eid Al Adha celebrations on Yas Island will be in full swing from August 21 – 25, featuring three days of dazzling fireworks by the Yas Marina promenade in addition to exciting celebrations taking place at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros. World™ Abu Dhabi and Yas Mall.Joining this year’s line-up from August 22 – September 1 at Yas Mall, is the ‘Yas Gaming Festival’, an 11-day gaming tournament which is set to put avid gamers’ skills to the test.

Movie lovers are in for a treat with ‘Yas Movies in the Park’ at du Arena this coming October featuring a West End cast. Fans can also enjoy ‘Cinema Under the Stars’ at Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi which will be featuring fan-favourite blockbusters for eight weeks during November and December.

Those in the mood for a scare or two will enjoy trick or treating and taking on spooky quests at ‘Dana’s Spooktacular’ taking place at Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi on October 26. Visitors during this season will also enjoy ‘Neorun’ – a new UV paint-filled fun run taking place at Yas Marina Circuit on November 2, where participants will enjoy numerous GLO-Zones along the three-kilometre party route. The night will be wrapped up with a psychedelic Enigma Party waiting for runners at the finish line.

From the organisers of the beloved Abu Dhabi Pet Festival, Yas Island will play host to the ‘Yas Pet Together’ on October 26 at the du Arena. Animal lovers will be able to enjoy a day out with their pets and participate in dog-and-owner exercise, agility courses and workshops, while kids can keep busy in a large play area with bouncy slides and an educational petting farm.

For the fitness junkies, there’s no shortage of opportunities to work up a sweat on Yas Island including the ‘Yas Cycle Race’ at Gateway Park and ‘The Striders Half Marathon’ taking place on September 28 and November 16 respectively.  The ‘Yas Fitness Festival’, Abu Dhabi’s biggest free fitness festival, which returns from November 16 -17 at Gateway Park will include appearances from international fitness celebrities, cooking classes and free fitness classes.

As always, the ‘Yasalam After-Race Concerts’ will entertain audiences following the ‘Formula 1 2018 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix’, the latter taking place from November 22 – 25.  Grammy-winning R&B singer The Weeknd, world-famous Sam Smith and the immensely lauded hard rock band Guns N’ Roses will be taking the stage at du Arena, Abu Dhabi’s biggest live music venue.

Reggae fans will enjoy the smooth sounds of international rap star Fat Joe and dancehall artist Charly Black and alongside a variety of food trucks by world-renowned chefs at ‘Caribbean Beach Festival’ which will return to Yas Beach on October 5.

Marking its inaugural debut in Abu Dhabi, Yas Links will play host to ‘The Big Grill Festival’ from December 6- 8. The 3-day event is set to celebrate the art of cooking with fire and smoke, bringing together chefs and grill masters from across the UAE for a high-octane weekend like no other. Serving up a spectrum of entertainment and activities for the whole family, the 3-day festival is sure to entertain with live concerts, children’s activities, grill competitions and no shortage of finger-licking good food.

Winter on Yas will once again be headlined by visitor favourites. The ‘Winter Carnival’ is back at a new location from December 11 – 15 at Gateway Park, while ‘Winterfest’ is bound to dazzle visitors with snow-filled fun at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi from December 14 until January 5. Visitors will also enjoy winter festivities at Yas Mall’s ‘Festive Season’ and Yas Marina’s ‘Festive Candy Land’.

As 2018 wraps up, Yas Island visitors can head down to Yas Marina to ring in the New Year in extravagant style with a spectacular fireworks display, best enjoyed from the terraces of some of the island’s best restaurants.
