Yas Marina Circuit Expected To Break Social Media Records As The #AbuDhabiGP Set For Another Title-Decider

While millions of eyes will be glued to the title-deciding action of the 2016 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX, fingers will be furiously tapping and swiping away on Yas Marina Circuit’s array of social media channels.

The Circuit’s Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube channels, as well as its user-friendly YasHUB F1 experience management app, are all set for record views, downloads and engagements up to and including race weekend on November 24th-27th.

With the 2016 title showdown between Mercedes teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg going to the wire, as well as the GP2 and GP3 titles being decided on Saturday and Sunday, Yas Marina Circuit is expecting to smash last yea’;s record total of 5.7million online engagements by the end of 2016.

Nick McElwee, Sales & Marketing Director at Yas Marina Circuit, said: ‘Our objective is to ensure our fans around the world get the absolute maximum from their race weekend. That means we are dedicating huge resources to our social media channels to provide everything a visitor to Yas Marina Circuit or a viewer at home would need, whether that be multimedia race build-up, discussion boards, interactive maps, information on off-track entertainment and activities, and much more.

It’s real a privilege to engage in social media interactions with our knowledgeable fans. We have already seen a jump in engagement following the outcome of the Brazilian Grand Prix and are fully expecting the title-deciding battle between Lewis and Nico to make Grand Prix weekend at Yas Marina Circuit the region’s most influential sporting event.

The Circuit is looking to build on last year’s online engagement when its social media footprint registered on a global scale.

The hashtag ‘˜#AbuDhabiGP’ trended number one worldwide on Twitter on race day 2015 while recording 725,810 Twitter mentions and more than 3.45 billion Twitter impressions over the Formula 1 weekend.

The introduction of Yas Marina’s Circuit’s Snapchat account was a huge success, with 142 million views, and Instagram garnered more than 2.8 million impressions.

Meanwhile, the YasHUB experience management app that allowed race goers to tailor all aspects of their weekend – from ticketing, to the latest F1 news to entertainment options – was downloaded more than 56,0000 times, compared to 40,734 times in 2014. It ranked as the number one downloaded sports app in the UAE’s Apple and Google Android stores.

YasHUB has everything fans require to get the low down on the title-deciding F1 battle. This includes race build up, driver and team details, season-so-far information, and much more, presented in the form of engaging infographics, images, and videos. There’s also a huge bank of video content on the Circuit’s dedicated YouTube channel, Yas TV.

For visitors to Yas Marina Circuit on race weekend, the YasHUB #AbuDhabiGP experience app has new features such as ˜AskYAS’ – your virtual concierge, available to answer any questions you may have 24/7 throughout race weekend.

AskYAS’s live chat customer service team will act as your guide to every aspect of the weekend. From finding out which entertainment is happening in which Grandstand Oasis Area and when, AskYAS will also provide navigational directions around the Circuit as well as information on parking, transport, food and beverage and seating, as well as race timings and results – you ask it, they will answer!
