Abu Dhabi Airports Launches #StandbyAUH Campaign To Recognise Efforts Of Airport Staff During The COVID-19 Pandemic

Abu Dhabi Airports has launched a campaign to highlight the efforts of essential operations employees working around the clock at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH), titled #StandbyAUH. During the global COVID-19 pandemic, these staff members have conducted a range of activities to ensure the efficiency of critical operations and maintain the airport’s infrastructure. Abu Dhabi Airports seeks to recognise their efforts in supporting the wider national and international fight against the novel coronavirus.

The #StandbyAUH campaign showcases, across Abu Dhabi Airports’ social media channels, the range of employees and stakeholder staff who are still working at the airport during the COVID-19 outbreak. The campaign invites the public to stand-by those who are continuing to operate the UAE capital’s vital aviation infrastructure, and encourages the nation to come together in solidarity and recognition of the important role played by all those working on the frontlines to combat COVID-19 and enable as many citizens and residents as possible to stay home.

Speaking about the campaign, Mr. Shareef Al Hashmi, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, said: “We are immensely proud of our operational crews at Abu Dhabi International Airport, who are continuing to complete significant and vital work that allows the airport to continue operating during these difficult times. Their commitment is a commitment which all of us at Abu Dhabi Airports have made: to the people of this city, to the residents and citizens of the UAE, and to the global aviation industry.

“Through this campaign, we seek to highlight the professionalism, passion, and the dedication which our employees have demonstrated during this COVID-19 pandemic, and we hope that it sheds some light on the wider set of support services which are essential to winning the fight against COVID-19,” concluded Mr. Al Hashmi.

Mohammad Al Bulooki, Chief Operating Officer of Etihad Aviation Group, said:  “Aviation is critical to Abu Dhabi and the UAE, and throughout this challenging period, Etihad Airways has played a vital role in helping to bring UAE nationals home, repatriate foreign residents, and continue to carry essential food, medical and other supplies into the country.

“The airline’s role in helping to ensure the food and medical security of the UAE has relied heavily upon the continued dedication not only of aircrew and planning teams across the business, but also its many employees who are based at Abu Dhabi International Airport, and work around the clock to maintain and handle aircraft, facilitate guests’ departures and arrivals, and manage the vast consignments of vital cargo arriving for the nation, or being sent elsewhere.

“Etihad’s efforts have been enabled by the critical and continuous support of Abu Dhabi Airports, providing a strong and safe contribution to the UAE by the combined workforces of Abu Dhabi’s largest aviation entities.”

Abu Dhabi Airports and its partners are working with all the relevant authorities including the Abu Dhabi Government, General Civil Aviation Authority, Department of Health, and Ministry of Health and Prevention to ensure every available precautionary measure is being taken to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone working at or passing through its facilities.

Dedicated frontline employees from Abu Dhabi Airports and Etihad Airways, as well as teams from Abu Dhabi Police, customs, immigration and rescue and fire response are working twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week at Abu Dhabi International Airport. They are enabling essential operations, supporting citizens and residents across the country and facilitating repatriation flights and the delivery of humanitarian aid to countries around the world.

Airport workers across the country are a critical element in the operations of cargo flights, ensuring the smooth and efficient turnaround of aircraft, which are supplying healthcare centres in the UAE as well as transporting medical supplies and humanitarian aid to 24 countries around the world, establishing the UAE as a global beacon of hope and generosity.

Abu Dhabi International Airport also continues to facilitate repatriation flights, helping reconnect families across the globe, and airport staff have been maintaining both key airport facilities and tending to aircraft, ensuring the airport is ready to welcome visitors to the city once regular air travel resumes.
