National Geographic Abu Dhabi Wins Award For Best Factual Entertainment Of The Year At ASBU BroadcastPro 2019 Awards

National Geographic Abu Dhabi wins Award for Best Factual Entertainment of the Year at the 2019 ASBU BroadcastPro 2019 Awards, the broadcast industry’s leading annual awards. Yet again their Award recognizes National Geographic’s achievement in locally produced Factual Entertainment content.

The winners were announced at an awards ceremony which will was held last night in Dubai Marina.

National Geographic Abu Dhabi was also shortlisted for ‘Best Digital Strategy of the Year’, ‘Best Video Initiative on a Social Media Platform’ and ‘Factual Entertainment of the Year.’

The ‘Best Digital Strategy of the Year’ nomination recognized National Geographic Abu Dhabi’s social media engagement growth from 8 million to 30 million a month in 2019 on their social channels.  National Geographic Abu Dhabi was also nominated for ‘Best Video Initiative on a Social Media Platform’ for their innovative content of Animal Fight club on all their social channels as well.

The channel also earned ‘Factual Entertainment of the Year’ nomination for the channel’s two recent documentaries ‘The Peace Visit’ and ‘Reach for the Stars’.

‘The Peace Visit’ showcased Pope Francis’s historic visit to Abu Dhabi and first-ever visit to the Gulf region, highlighting the extraordinary events and groundbreaking meetings that took place.

‘Reach for the Stars’ is the first of a multi-year series that National Geographic is producing in partnership with Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, which chronicles the UAE’s extraordinary journey into space. This first film captured Emirati astronaut Hazzaa AlMansoori’s unprecedented journey into space, the historic launch of KhalifaSat and the development of the Hope Probe spacecraft, dubbed Mars ‘first true weather satellite,’ which is set to arrive at Mars in 2021 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE.
