Art lovers can get up close and personal with three striking pictures – by drinking them.
The Manhattan Lounge at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi is offering three cocktails inspired by iconic artworks.
“There are many similarities between cocktails and art – both are born of creativity and passion. I’m trying to deliver something new and fresh that hasn’t been seen in the Middle East before,” said Tiziano Tasso, Bar Manager at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi.
The cocktails were created in homage to the recently opened Louvre Abu Dhabi, a short stroll from the hotel.
Each Instagram-friendly drink depicts work by a different artist – pictures by Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, and German photographer Markus Reugels were selected for the project.
The images are printed in food dye onto edible paper which dissolves when placed on the liquids’ surface. The drinks’ ingredients include eucalyptus, blueberry infusion, and blood orange cordial.
“The idea was to create an experience that engages all of senses at once. I wanted the pictures to be instantly recognizable, but to give them a fresh, Pop Art treatment with lots of bright colors.”
Each drink is priced at AED 80 and will be served at The Manhattan Lounge.
